Dr. Vimal is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at San Jose State University, dedicated to advancing the fields of engineering design and education through research, teaching, and innovation. With a passion for exploring design creativity and fostering innovation, Vimal adopts an interdisciplinary approach to uncover the intricacies of design thinking and its applications.

As a researcher,Vimal focuses on developing tools and methodologies to enhance design thinking and support engineers in solving complex challenges. His work delves into the theory and practice of engineering design, aiming to bridge the gap between creative ideation and practical implementation. By integrating principles from various disciplines, Vimal's research sheds light on how individuals and teams approach problem-solving in engineering contexts.

Sarika Pruthi is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at the School of Global Innovation and Leadership, Lucas College & Graduate School of Business, San Jose State University. Her research focuses on immigrant and social entrepreneurship, international venture capital, and private equity, with a particular interest in start-up motivations and the role of social ties in venture growth. Sarika’s work spans developed and emerging economies, including the US, UK, and India, and has been published in leading journals such as Small Business Economics and Strategic Management Journal.

She is deeply committed to student success, teaching entrepreneurship and international business courses, co-founding the transformative HonorsX program, and leading initiatives like the Silicon Valley Innovation Challenge. Sarika has received multiple awards, including the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Lucas College of Business. Prior to joining SJSU, she held roles at King’s College London and the University of Nottingham. Sarika also serves on editorial and executive boards and actively contributes to global academic conferences. 

Abby is a seasoned legal strategist, skilled negotiator, and registered patent attorney, with extensive expertise in intellectual property law, contract law, corporate law, and licensing. Her career spans high-stakes legal counsel and strategic business development, focusing on intellectual property, technology transfer, and fostering innovative partnerships. Abby is passionate about leveraging her knowledge to drive impactful outcomes for organizations, clients, and collaborators.

Recognized for her ability to design and execute innovative legal and business strategies, Abby excels at partnering with key stakeholders to build dynamic, goal-oriented teams. Her dedication to fostering partnerships—spanning university spin-outs, public-private ventures, and joint business development efforts—has consistently led to breakthrough achievements.

Vignesh is a Senior IP Counsel at Lam Research and an adjunct professor at SJSU.  He is a graduate of the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and has an electrical engineering degree from SJSU. Prior to Lam Research, Vignesh was an associate at Perkins Coie, where he worked with multiple clients both locally and internationally, and of different complexities and sizes.  Prior to law school, Vignesh worked as a RF engineer, where he was first exposed to patent law.
